TAKE MY REVOLUTION
INTRO
Augusta Hedegaard, oldest daughter of prominent landowner, Baron August Hedegaard, is known as "a difficult girl", she has a temper, she has no patience, she doesn't take crap and she wants a life for herself. What we'd call "a modern woman", but she's too modern for her times. Having grown up in her father's manor house on the heaths outside Herning, Denmark, she has become an independent, self-reliant woman, bethrothed to a legit count, Johan of Northern Heinsburg, and with no real desire to become his wife or a countess. Yet, she is 21 years old and the year is 1789 - what else will she be, if not that?
HISTORY
Augusta is the second oldest child to the Hedegaard Manor, the first being her older brother, Andreas. Shortly after Augusta's birth, their mother became sick with an infection and died, leaving August to remarry with a young boy of five on one hand and a baby girl on the other - and Augusta's stepmother, Margrethe, would soon bear him twin boys, Augusta's two younger half-brothers, Hans and Niels.
Growing up, she didn't have a particularly close bond to her stepmother, though she accepted her place in the house without a fuss, but there was little in the way of respect and little in the way of obedience. If you had to set a boundary with Augusta, her father would have to do it, and even he struggled. Still, her tutors deemed her intelligent and capable, there was little to see as problematic, except her temper and her obstinate streak. Her father, despite everything, believed in her and managed to land a very profitable arrangement, an engagement with the Count of Northern Heinsburg's youngest son. And this time, although Augusta said no, kicked and screamed, he did not bow out. It was to be.
So, for the past five years, Augusta has known in what direction she was going, what waited ahead, has dragged her feet and hated every step she took.
In the meantime, Danish society was changing slowly. All over the country, tenant farmers were backed economically so they could buy their own land and become their own masters, earning a living of their own. Landowners like Augusta's father were against this development and were planning to approach the King about the matter, to have him put his foot down, Augusta indifferent to all these politics.
She was busy riding and hunting and enjoying herself, until one day on her hunt, she ran into the farmer's daughter, Maren Hald, who was out picking berries off the Hedegaard lands. Admiring her courage, Augusta asked for her name, promising her that it wouldn't have grave consequences for her. Once she was given Maren's name, something blossomed in her chest she had never felt before, none of the times she had strolled around her father's gardens with the count's son, either.
For the rest of the story, she would chase this emotion, right through one of the most turbulent periods of the Danish Enlightenment; the agricultural reforms.

People say she's grown up to become wild because there wasn't enough feminine influence in her household, but Augusta believes she's become wild because she refuses to deny her nature.Growing up, she didn't have a particularly close bond to her stepmother, though she accepted her place in the house without a fuss, but there was little in the way of respect and little in the way of obedience. PERSONALITY
They say: "You're like your mother." To which Augusta replies: "Then, I wish I could have known my mother."
+ MORE
Augusta is not the epitome of femininity as society wanted it, in 1789. She is stubborn, confident, passionate, selfish, impatient and loud. She doesn't always - actually, it is rare that she does as she's told. She loves horseback riding, hunting and being outdoors. She hates nothing more than to sew and do embroidery. APPEARANCE
Tall (172 cm), thin, willowy, long, dark brown hair that waves (it's not a curl, she will tell you, when it might in fact be), pale skin, almost see-through in her complexion, striking blue eyes that are almost icy to look at and a sharp smile that can puncture, that can stab.
WANTED RP
Favourite tropes include arranged marriage as well as soulmate AUs. Generally prefer to play in historical scenarios, though I span pretty wide era-wise. from 1700-1920's, maybe till 1940's if the character combi is right for it. Love a good "royalty"/commoner scenario, too - and lavender marriage situations. Found family dynamics are among my favourite. Although Augusta is based in Denmark within her own canon, I am completely open to placing her in about any other part of the world and can make most things in that regard work.
